With a label reminiscent of deep blue waters and a symbolic name (΄Vre΄ from the French ΄vrai΄, meaning truth), Chatzivarytis Estate's Malagousia Vre is the most natural expression of this grape variety we have ever tasted.

Chloe Chatzivariti returned from France in 2016 with the love and 'know-how' for natural wines and biodynamic farming. Vangelis Chatzivaritis, the initiator and founder of the winery, supported his daughter's new project with pride and joy. The Malagousia in Chloe's hands was freed from unnecessary embellishments. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks and bottled unfiltered, without any further intervention.

On the nose it is impressive and intense, with aromas of citrus, vanilla, toasted wood and small white flowers. In the mouth it is very complex, with crisp acidity and a long finish.

Enjoy 'VRE' with our seasonal homemade chutney, Greek cheese (dependant on seasonality and availability) and carob breadsticks.

The story...

The name 'Vre' was inspired by a 19th century myth, the myth of truth and lies. The truth and the lie were washed in a pond, and when the lie came out, it stole the clothes of the truth and put them on. The lie went about among the people pretending to be the truth, while the truth refused to put on the clothes of the lie, and so it remained in the lake forever. No one could face the naked truth.
